CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield launched the CareFirst Commitment Initiative in January 2005 to improve healthcare affordability, access, safety and quality through partnerships with community organizations in the Mid-Atlantic region.  CareFirst uses two percent of its net operating income to fund the initiative’s charitable giving and has contributed over $25 million to more than 200 organizations since its inception.
