Blue Foundation for a Healthy Florida

The Blue Foundation for a Healthy Florida, a separate, philanthropic affiliate of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida (BCBSF), provides grants to community organizations that serve the uninsured, including free health clinics and prescription drug assistance programs.  Aiming to align its grantmaking with community needs, the foundation awards grants in the summer and winter that focus on:

• Improving nonprofits’ program capacity and reducing barriers to access
• Nurturing community health leadership, reinforcing local solutions, fostering innovation and sustaining quality
• Leveraging financial, human and other resources to maximize measurable impact

In addition, the Blue Foundation for a Healthy Florida’s Sapphire Award recognizes and promotes community health programs that have demonstrated a significant positive impact on health-related outcomes for the state’s at-risk citizens and communities.  The foundation’s Embrace a Healthy Florida program, meanwhile, aims to address the causes of childhood obesity through public-private partnerships.  For more information on these initiatives, please visit the foundation’s website.
